Teacher, Farmer Dies at Moundridge

Moundridge, Kan.—William Ernest Juhnke, a retired teacher and farmer, died Feb. 11 at Memorial Home. He was 79.

Juhnke was employed at Bethel College from 1961-67, serving as admissions counselor and debate coach. He taught history and social sciences in high schools at Moundridge and Buhler and was a principal at Lehigh High School.

He was a former officer of the Swiss Cultural and Historical Association.

Funeral services are being held Feb. 14 at Eden Mennonite Church rural Moundridge, with Ed R. Stucky officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Meta (Goering); two sons, James C. of North Newton and William E. Jr. of Lamoni, Iowa; four daughters, Janet Juhnke of Salina, Sharon Harris of Carmichael, Calif., Ruth Juhnke of Kansas City, Mo., and Candace Unrau of Moundridge; two brothers, Walter of Moundridge and Carl of Hutchinson; three sisters, Emma Stucky of Moundridge, Elsie Graber of Pretty Prairie and Martha Kaufman of McPherson; and 11 grandchildren.
