Prominent Farmer Dies at Hillsboro

Hillsboro, Kan. — A heart attack suffered while doing the morning chores Nov. 18 proved fatal to George S. Jost, 63, prominent dairy farmer here and a Marion county commissioner.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren church, Rev. Marvin Hein in charge.

A native of this community, Mr. Jost was active in civic and church affairs. He had been a county commissioner for nearly 13 years, was a member of the Salem hospital board and the Guernsey Breeders Assn. In 1955 he and Mrs. Jost were honored as Kansas' Master Farmer and Homemaker.

Surviving are the widow, one daughter and five sons, one sister, four brothers and 17 grandchildren.
