Retired Farmer Injured When Train Hits Car

Goshen, Ind. — An accident at a county road crossing over the New York Central tracks near here resulted in head injuries for Clarence Jones, 72, retired farmer of Route 4.

Mr. Jones was attempting to push his stalled auto off the tracks when it was struck by a freight train. The car was hurled into a nearby corn field, and Mr. Jones was found lying beside it. He was brought to the Goshen General Hospital for treatment.

Mr. Jones is a member of the Eighth Street Mennonite Church here.

Services Held for Victim Of Crossing Accident

Goshen, Ind. — Funeral services were conducted at the Eighth Street Mennonite Church here Nov. 8 for Clarence Jones, 76, retired farmer who suffered fatal injuries in a railroad crossing accident Nov. 4.

Mr. Jones was trying to push his stalled auto off the tracks when it was struck by a freight train. He died on Monday of a fractured skull and other injuries.

After farming in the New Paris community for 35 years, Mr. and Mrs. Jones had moved from the farm about eight months ago and he was employee at a local nursery and greenhouse.
