ABRAHAM E. JONES

Abraham E. Jones, was born at Shipshewana, Ind. on May 25, 1885 and passed away at the Woodburn, Ore. Nursing Home on Feb. 21 at the age of 78 years, eight months, and 27 days. He was the son of Nathaniel and Amelia (Kauffman) Jones.

He was baptized in his youth and after coming to Oregon in 1906 he became a member of the Zion Mennonite Church, of which he remained a faithful member to the end.

He was united in marriage to Tillie Miller on April 25, 1909 by Bishop A. P. Troyer at the Zion Mennonite Church, Hubbard, Ore. To this union were born eight children.

Those who survive besides his wife are four sons and three daughters, Howard and David of Hubbard, Emery of Salem, Ore., Edward of Aurora, Ore., Katie (Mrs. Ira Kauffman) of Middlebury, Ind., Edna (Mrs. Kenneth Plank) of Goshen, Ind. and Mary Anna (Mrs. Harry Reeder) of Woodburn. One daughter preceded him in death. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Jacob of Elkhart, ind., Mrs. Polly Bender of Kalona, Iowa, Mrs. Millie Overholt of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Anna Yoder of Hutchinson, Kan.; also many nieces and nephews.

He spent his entire married life in the Hubbard area as a farmer and carpenter.

Funeral services were held Feb. 24 at the Zion Mennonite Church, with Bishop N. M. Birky and Pastor John Lederach officiating. Interment was made in the Zion cemetery.
