RUTH STROUSE JOHNSON

Ruth Strouse Johnson, daughter of Howard and Mabel Esser Strouse, was born July 10, 1918 at Lumberville, Bucks county Pennsylvania. She was baptized upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and received into the membership of the Deep Run Mennonite congregation Eastern Conference, by, Pastor Allen M. Fretz, on October 7, 1933. She was a graduate of New Hope high school and Rider business college, Trenton, New Jersey and prior to her marriage was engaged as a stenographer in Philadelphia and Trenton.

On May 25, 1946 she was married to George R. Johnson of Hatboro, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, by her pastor, J. Herbert Fretz. They resided near her parental home in Lumberville overlooking the beautiful Delaware River. Through the past years she passed through long periods of declining health. Throughout this prolonged invalidism she maintained her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and was never known to lost hope.

She fell asleep on Friday, February 9, 1951, at the age of 32 years. Her grandfather, William Henry Esser, proceeded her in death last July. Her husband and her parents remain.

The funeral and burial were held at the Deep Run meetinghouse on February 13, 1951. Her pastor J. H. Fretz, preached on Psalm 23:4.
