FREDERICK JOHNSON

Frederick Johnson, son of John and Lena (Unruh) Johnson, was born Oct. 28, 1888, in Moundridge, Kansas. He departed this life on Friday evening, Sept.14, at 4:00 p. m., having reached the age of 67 years, 10 months and 14 days.

On Jan. 31, 1911, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Unruh. They made their home on a farm near Coldwater, Kansas for a time then moved to Goltry, Okla., where they spent the remainder of their 45 years together.

On Nov. 9, 1913, he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was received into the membership of the Zoar Mennonite Church of Goltry, where he remained a member until his death.

The Lord saw fit to bless their marriage with seven children: Chester of Wichita, Philip of Meno, Thomas and Sanford of Goltry, Mrs. Robert Unruh of Dewey, Mrs. Silas Hinkle of Copan, and Mrs. Linley Koehn, Ringwood.

While they were visiting in California in 1946, father became ill and had to have surgery. From this time on his health began to fail. In 1955 he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered. On May 17, 1956, he was admitted to the General Hospital in Enid for surgery from which he did not recover.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, four sons, three daughters, and nine grandchildren; four brothers, Edward of Vinita, Carl of Hayward, Frank of Taloga, Elmer of Oakland, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. John Eck of Hayward, Mrs. Ray Pannell of Taloga, and Mrs. Henry Koehn, Taloga; many friends and relatives.
