DAVID A. JANZEN

David A. Janzen of Los Gatos, Calif., son of Abraham H. and Eva Neufeld Janzen, was born on April 12, 1895 in Naumenka, the Ukraine. He came to America in 1904 at the age of nine when the family moved to Kansas. He grew up on the parental farm about 12 miles southwest of Hillsboro.

The family moved to California in 1914 and settled on a small ranch at Fairmead. While living there he was drafted into military service during World War I.

After his discharge in 1918 and his marriage to Catherine E. Croft in the 1920s, he and his family lived at Huntington Beach, Bakersfield, Reedley, and Los Gatos, Calif., where he died on April 5, 1975, lacking one week of having reached his 80th birthday. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Surviving are his wife, of Los Gatos; two daughters, Mrs. William (Catherine Gertrude) Gfroerer of Daly City, Calif. and Mrs. Robert (Eva Marie) Yeo of Reading, Mass.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister Eva, Mrs. J. P. Wall of Fresno; two brothers, A. E. Janzen of Hillsboro, Kan. and C. E. Janzen of Dinuba.

Funeral services were held on April 8, 1975, at Oak Hill Mortuary's Chapel of Roses, San Jose, with interment at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
