Principal of Ohio School Called by Death

SERVICES HELD AT LOWVILLE, N. Y. FOR ALVIN E. JANTZI, 28

Dalton, Ohio. — This community was saddened recently to learn of the death of Alvin Earl Jantzi, 28, principal of the Sonnenberg Mennonite Parochial school near here, who passed away at Good Samaritan hospital Watertown, N. Y. on Aug. 23 a short time after undergoing surgery.

Funeral services were conducted in his home community, Lowville, New York, on Aug 26. Elias Zehr conducted a brief service at the home, followed by services at the Black River Conservative Amish Mennonite church in charge of Bishop Lloyd Boshart, Andrew Gingerich, and Louis Amstutz. Joseph Nafziger officiated at the graveside.

Bro. Jantzi had been attending summer school at Kent State university but was forced to return to his home because of ill health. He had been principal of the parochial school here for two years and had been hired for the coming term. He was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite college, Harrisonburg, Va.

Survivors include his fiancée, Florine Lehman of Rittman, five brothers and five sisters. The parents, Solomon and Anna Jantzi, preceded him in death.
