Services Held For Two Young Women Killed in Auto Crash
ETHEL KREHBIEL AND SARA ANN JANTZEN FATALLY HURT IN HEAD-ON COLLISION IN PENNSYLVANIA
Funeral services tor two Voluntary Service workers killed in an auto accident near West Chester, Pa. last week were held in their respective churches Saturday forenoon, Aug 25, it has been learned here. Services for Ethel Jane Krehbiel took place at the Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge, and those for Sara Ann Jantzen were held at the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice, Neb.
Akron, Pa. (MCC) — Two workers in the voluntary service program of Mennonite Central Committee were fatally injured and two others seriously injured in an automobile accident August 21 near West Chester, Pa., while on a vacation trip.
Fatality victims were drive3r Ethel Krehbiel, 23, of McPherson, Kans., a worker at Camp Landon at Gulfport, Miss. the past three years, and Sara Ann Jantzen, 23, of Plymouth, Nebr., a worker at Baptist Home for Children and later National Institutes of Health, both at Bethesda, Md.
In serious condition in West Chester hospitals at last report are Ethel's sisters — Vera Joy, a student at Bethel College, and Helen, owner of the car.
According to a report by the Pennsylvania State Police an auto headed north operated by Gerald Cline of Downingtown, Pa., collided head-on into the southbound Krehbiel auto when his car glanced off the rear fender of an auto in front of him. Cline's condition was listed critical at last report.
The four were on a trip in the East. Ethel and Helen had gone to Washington, D. C., where they met Vera Joy and Sara Ann who had completed summer service at NIH.
The Krehbiel sisters are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Krehbiel of McPherson and members of Eden Mennonite Church at Moundridge. Sara Ann was the daughter of Henry B. Jantzen of Plymouth and a member of First Mennonite Church at Beatrice.
Ethel Krehbiel had been in the voluntary service unit at Gulfport the past three years and planned to continue after her vacation. She was a counselor in the recreational, educational and religious program of the camp.
Sara Ann Jantzen had completed a year of voluntary service with MCC the same day of the accident. She served at the MCC house at Washington, Baptist Home for Children and NIH, both at Bethesda. She planned to enter nurses training at Bethel College this autumn. Four members of her family have been in MCC service.

— Information received here indicates that Vera Joy Krehbiel and Helen Krehbiel of McPherson, who were critically injured Aug. 21 in an auto accident near West Chester, Pa. which claimed the lives of their sister Ethel Jane and Sara Ann Jantzen are slowly improving in West Chester hospitals. Their parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Gideon Krehbiel, have been with them since the accident. At last report, both girls still suffered periods of unconsciousness.

SARAH ANN JANTZEN
Sarah Ann Jantzen was born Dec. 14, 1933, the daughter of Henry B. and Margaret Jantzen (nee Ensz) at Beatrice, Neb.
She attended public school and during the school year 1947-48, our church Bible academy. She graduated from the Plymouth High school in 1951.
She was baptized upon the confession of her faith on May 28, 1950, by Rev. Jacob T. Friesen, and become [sic] an active member of the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice, Neb. She rendered kind and courteous service while working at the local Mennonite hospital from April 1952 to April 1955.
Desiring to express her devotion to Christ she offered herself in Voluntary service at the Baptist Children's Home Bethesda, Maryland from June 1955 to June 1956. After this she offered herself for two months at the National Institutes of Health at Bethesda, Maryland.
She had planned to enroll at the Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas this fall to begin her nurses training. she was called home suddenly on August 21, 1956, as a result of a head-on car collision.
Her mother preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1953. She leaves her father, two sisters and two brothers, and other relatives and friends.
The following words of Scripture express the spirit of devotion and kindness which prompted the departed in her service at home and in Voluntary service: "He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it . . . And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto yo, he shall in no wise lose his reward." Matt. 10: 39, 42.
