ELMER H. JANTZ

Elmer Herman Jantz was born May 2, 1891, at Dundee, Kan. and passed away at the age of 80 at the St. Joseph's Memorial Hospital in Larned, Kan. on Jan. 11, 1972.

He married Golda Mae Schmidt of Pawnee Rock, Kan. on Nov. 21, 1926. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1962.

He was a retired farmer and a 1916 graduate of Kansas State Agricultural College. After World War I he served in reconstruction work under the auspices of the American Friends Service Committee.

He was baptized on May 30, 1909, and was a devoted member of the Bergthal Mennonite Church all of his life. He served as a deacon for a number of years.

He was a regular contributor to many charitable organizations, church relief programs, church mission programs and Bethel College, North Newton, Kan.

His concern for the welfare of his family, his kindness and genuine friendliness to all people were evident to all who knew him. He lived a sincere, humble Christian life. His love for farming and his interest in a wide variety of activities remained with him until the end of his life. His absence will be sincerely felt by all who came to know him.

Survivors include two daughters, Mildred and husband William Unrau of Wichita, Kan., and Anna Jo and husband James Bolender of Princeton, N. J.; two brothers, Adolph of Larned and Dan of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Wickstrom, Viola Jantz, and Mrs. Alice Schreiber, all of Larned; and four grandchildren.

A daughter, Melva, and three brothers, Harold, Arnold and William, preceded him in death.
