MRS. AMANDA JANTZ

Mrs. Amanda Louise Jantz passed away on Dec. 18, 1955, after a prolonged illness. The funeral service was held at the North Star Mennonite Church, Drake, Sask. on Dec. 23 with Rev. Paul Schroeder officiating.

Mrs. Jantz, daughter of the late Daniel and Adelgunda Unger, was born April 19, 1889, in Hillsboro, Kansas. In 1906 she was baptized upon confession of her faith by Rev. J. S. Hirshler. She received her education in Hillsboro. After graduating from high school she attended business college in Hutchinson, Kansas.

On Feb. 4, 1912, she was united in marriage to Valentine B. Jantz. They moved to Drake, Sask. where Mr. Jantz had taken up a homestead in 1905. In 1914 she joined the North Star Mennonite Church at Drake where her husband was also a member. To this union were born three sons and three daughters.

In 1951 her husband suffered a stroke and in January 1952 was taken Home. Thus Mrs. Jantz returned to the U. S. A., making her home with her sons Dan and Allen Jantz at Fresno, Calif. She enjoyed good health until early spring of 1955, and upon examination was found to have leukemia.

In May 1955 she returned to visit her daughters at Drake, whom she longed to see. After receiving medical treatment she enjoyed reasonably good health for a brief period. She again became seriously ill and was taken to the hospital where she spent the last five months of her life.

She reached the age of 66 years eight months.

She leaevs [sic] to mourn her departure her six children and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Len Ediger and Mr. and Mrs. Con Wiens, Drake, Sask., Mr. and Mrs. Milton Jantz, missionaries to India, Dan and Allen Jantz and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moyer of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, H. A. Unger of Corn, Okla. and J. F. Unger of Reedley, Calif., Mrs. Lena Klassen, Goessel, Kans. and Mrs. Louise Hiebert, Anderson, Mo.; and a host of relatives and friends.

Weather conditions made it impossible for the two sons and daughters from California to be present at the funeral of their mother. A memorial service was conducted in Reedley at the same time the funeral took place in Drake, Sask. Interment was made in North Star Cemetery.

Mother has gone on to her Heavenly Home, where some day we shall again be united in Glory.
