MARGARETHA JAHNKE

Mrs, Margaretha Jahnke of Herbert, Sask., passed away on June 7, in the Herbert Invalid Home. Mrs. Jahnke was born in Friedensfeld, Russia in 1882. She left Russia in 1903 and spent a year in Steinbach, Man. In 1904 she came with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Benjamin Janz, to Main Centre at which time she committed her life to the Lord. In October of that year she married Cornelius Jahnke and they became some of the first settlers in the Main Centre area . She was a member of the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church and an active member of the Ladies Aid of which she was president for many years. She entered the Senior Citizens Home in 1963 and the Herbert Invalid Home in 1967. She was predeceased by her husband in 1952, one daughter, Annie, in 1914, and one grand-daughter in 1963.

She is survived by four sons: Pete, Gouldtown, Sask.; Ben, Eston, Sask.; Elmer, Morse, Sask.; and Bruce, Lebret, Sask.; three daughters: Mrs. Herb (Olga) Wiebe, Herbert, Sask.; Mrs. Vic (Helen) Wiebe, Vancouver, B.C.; and Elizabeth, Herbert, Sask.; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grand children; and one brother, Rev. Nick Janz, Herbert, Sask.
