LONG FAST FATAL TO MISSOURI PREACHER

The Ozark preacher who fasted 51 days as he sought "the more perfect will of God" died June 2 at his home near Cherryville, Mo. He was conscious to the end, said his wife and children who were at his bedside.

Rev. J. J. Ivie, 57 year old minister of the Assembly of God church, had taken no food and firmly ordered that no physician be allowed into the home under any circumstances. A doctor who later signed the death certificate called the case "self-inflicted starvation."

Ivie wrote a note, stating that he was "seeking the more perfect will of God and asking God to show me why the signs do not follow my ministry as Jesus said they would."
