GERTRUDE ISAAK

Gertrude Marie Isaak, daughter of Peter and Eva Isaak, was born December 20, 1931, at Aberdeen, Idaho. Gertrude was the oldest daughter in the family and in her willing spirit she was a great help in performing the many duties of the home. Faithfulness and integrity accompanied her tasks. She delighted in helping, was always happy to have been of service.

On November 14, she became ill. She received the best of care that the home could give, but her condition became precarious so that it was advisable to submit her to hospital care. She entered the Schiltz Memorial Hospital at American Falls on November 23. Nurses and doctors gave her the best that kind hands and medical skill could furnish.

While in the hospital she was frequently visited by members of the family. Her tender spirit of kindness was always an inspiration. Her illness did not cause her to suffer to any great extent and it was her privilege to be conscious to the last minutes of her life. On Sunday morning, December 3, her condition became more serious and the family was called. Before the family arrived her spirit had departed, which took place at ten o'clock in the forenoon. She suffered from rheumatic fever of the heart, also which caused her death. She reached the age of 12 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Gertrude leaves to mourn her death her parents, six brothers, two sisters and many other relatives and friends. One brother preceded her death May 17, 1940.

Gertrude was a faithful member in the home, diligent in her school work, and active in various religious activities. She was a member of the eighth grade in the local school. During the past summer she participated in 4-H work and enjoyed the opportunity that the class in Beginners Nutrition afforded her.

Her wholesome Christian spirit was evident in her religious activities. She was a member of the Intermediate Sunday school, the Intermediate Christian endeavors society, the Dorcas Mission society and faithfully attended all other services of the Church. Her interest in religious work was ever refreshing and she loved to be of service to others and pleasing to Christ, whom she loved. She leaves with us a beautiful memory of her life, an example of Christan girlhood, while her spirit abides in the Heavenly mansions prepared for her.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 at the church, December 6. Rev. Willard Leisy was in charge of the funeral services. Burial was made at the Mennonite Homestead Cemetery.
