— A radio message sent from Brindisi, Italy, and picked up at Salina then relayed by phone to Moundridge informed Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Isaac of the death of their grandson Paul, aged three, son of Rev. and Mrs. Ferdinand Isaac, who together with Missionary P. W. Penners are now on their way to America. Friends and relatives are still awaiting definite word by cable. This will be a great blow to Missionary Isaacs.

. . .

— A long distance hone [sic] call from Mt. Lake to Moundridge informed Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Isaac of the arrival of their son Missionary Ferd Isaac and family, at Mt. Lake, Minn., on Tuesday, June 10. Missionary P. W. Penners are expected to reach Marion, Kansas, on Thursday, June 12. The Isaacs are expected to come to Kansas next week after spending a few days with Mrs. Isaac’s relatives in Mountain Lake. Letters written by the Isaacs while on board ship give more details of the death of their son Paul at Brindisi, Italy. They were in quarantine at the time of his death and were therefore not allowed to be present at the interment which took place in a cemetery at Brindisi on Sunday, May 25. Next day they were released from quarantine and were shown the grave of their son. The Isaacs then continued their trip across Italy, Switzerland and on down the Rhine and rejoined the Penners in England and sailed for America on June 1.
