NEWTON & VICINITY

Naomi Inghram, 66, of rural Newton was murdered the morning of Nov. 5 at a Newton laundromat. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Halstead. Rodney L. Brown, 23, of Cawker City was arrested at the scene of the crime and charged with the killing. Death was due to strangulation, according to the autopsy report. The funeral service was held Nov. 7 at the Church of the Nazarene in Newton with John Horning officiating. Born Naomi Becker, she was married to Kenneth J. Inghram ini 1944. He survives, along with two sons, Douglas of Wheaton, Ill. and Monte of Newton; two daughters, Marchita (Mrs. Don) Curtis of Rochester, Pa. and Ardete (Mrs. Glenn) Frey of Newton; two step-sons, David and Gary Inghram of Wichita; six sisters, Mrs. John P. Wiebe, Mrs. Herman Pjesky and Mrs. Russell Stroud of Newton, Mrs. Frank Refsguard of Tracy, Calif., Mrs. Ralph Reynolds of El Dorado and Mrs. Charles Casebeer of McPherson; and 16 grandchildren.
