Indian, Once Pupil in Halstead School, Is Accidentally Killed.

The Halstead, Kans., Independent reports the death of Pete Houser, an Indian who as a boy was reared and educated in the Mennonite Indian School at Halstead. According to the Independent that "was over 30 years ago, when the Mennonite Indian School was being operated at the Christian Krehbiel farm a mile southeast of Halstead, now the home of his son, Paul Krehbiel. Pete Houser came to the school at the age of five and was there for two years, when the school was closed in 1902. For two years after that he attended the public schools in Halstead.

"Houser's neck was broken early Sunday morning when a passing car struck him as he was changing a tire on a road near Pawhuska Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krehbiel and son Paul Edward, of Halstead, attended."

The accident which caused Mr. Hosuer's death occurred near Pawhuska.
