Long-Time Goshen Physician Dies

Goshen, Ind. — Dr. Carl M. Hostetler, 57, who practices medicine in the Goshen community from 1943 to September 1967, died Oct. 2 at Elkhart General Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Goshen College Church, of which he was a member.

Dr. Hostetler had begun his second year on the medical staff of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, serving as clinical instructor of medicine. He became ill about 10 days before his death and was brought to the Elkhart hospital.

A native of Barrs Mills, Ohio, he was a graduate of Goshen College and the School of Medicine, Western Reserve University. He was secretary of the Goshen Hospital Medical Staff from 1958 to 1964, and had served as a mission associate at a hospital in eastern Nigeria.

Survivors include his widow, the former LaVerne Yoder; three sons, Fred of South Gate, Calif., Dr. Karl of Cleveland, O., and J. Michael of Clearwater, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Robinett of Elkhart; two brothers and two sisters.
