BARBARA ELLEN HOSTETLER

Barbara Ellen Hostetler, daughter of John G. and Catherine (King) Zook, was born in Mifflin County, Pa. on March 21, 1870; died Jan. 14, 1959, of a weakened heart in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Joe and Katie Blosser of near Tampico, Ill. which had been her home for 21 years. She reached the age of 88 years, nine months and 24 days.

She was united in marriage with Pius Hostetler of Cass County, Mo. on Feb. 15,1892. He passed away July 2, 1937. To this union were born two sons and three daughters: Katie (Mrs. Joe Blosser) of Tampico, Ill., Carrie (Mrs. Joe Eigsti) of Shelbyville, Ill., John E. of Roanoke, Ill., Joe S. of Tampico, Ill., and Lizzie mae (Mrs. Chris, Eigsti) of Rock Falls, Ill.

She leaves to mourn her sudden death her five children, 37 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Jake of Springfield, Ohio, Ira Milton of Portsmouth, Va., Oliver H. of Belleville, Pa., Leo Perry of Lancaster, Pa. and Blaine C. of Allensville, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Phillips and Mrs. Harry (Carrie) Kennedy, both of Allensville, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She united with the Amish Mennonite church in her youth, in which faith she remained faithful until death.

Funeral services were held Jan. 17 in the Fairfield A. M. Church near Tampico, Ill., in charge of the home ministers and Preachers Harold Hostetler of Washburn, Ill. She was buried in the Mt. Herman cemetery near Shelbyville, Ill. where her husband also was buried.
