JONAS N. HORST

Jonas N. Horst was born near Farmersville, Pa. on Nov. 22, 1874; died May 29, 1963 at the home of his son Clarence W. Horst at Farmersville, age 88 years. He died of complications of old age.

In his younger years he was a farmer and later a carpenter and a bee man. He tended bees till one and a half years before he passed away. On Oct. 22, 1895, he was married to Ada S. Stoner who preceded him in death Nov.18, 1900. To this home were born four children: Elsie of Warnersville, Pa., wife of Cornelius Graybill, deceased; Jacob, deceased; Ada, wife of Andrew Hackman of Manheim, Pa.; and Rev. Clarence W. Horst of Farmersville. There are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

On Dec. 14, 1939 he was married to Mary Hege of Maugansville, Md. who survives him. For 23 years he lived in Maugansville during the summer and in Pinecraft, Fla. during the six winter months. He often expressed a desire to go to his home beyond this world as he was slowly getting weaker for several years.

He was a faithful member of Reiffs Mennonite Church at Cearfoss, Md. and also of the Mennonite Tourist Church, Pinecraft, Sarasota, Fla. Services and burial were held at Metzlers Mennonite Church near Akron, Pa.
