text of obituary:

MRS. ELMA HORST

Elma Horst, daughter of Melvin and Lula Rohrer Kornhaus, was born in Wayne County, Ohio, on April 16, 1898, and died at her home after a long period of illness on Sunday night, Oct. 26,1958, age 60 years, six months and 10 days.

Early in life she recognized her need of a Savior and responded to this need by placing her faith in Christ and uniting with the Martins Mennonite Church.

In 1918 she was married to Albert Horst and on Nov. 21 of this year, they would have observed their 40th Wedding Anniversary. She was a lifelong resident of Wayne County.

In addition to her husband, Albert, she is survived by six sons: Chester, the oldest, of Orrville, Laverne of Smithville, Albert, jr. of Chicago Ridge, Ill., Melvin and Raymond of Columbiana, and Myron, the youngest, of Smithville. Also surviving are two brothers, David and Forrest Kornhaus of Orrville; one sister, Mrs. Raymond Burkholder, likewise of Orrville; and 16 grandchildren.

It is worthy of note that besides raising six Christian sons, Mrs. Horst made her house a home for over 25 welfare children who came and stayed for varying periods of time. One of these children, David Royer, is presently living in the home. Thus the influence of this mother and this Christian home has been felt in many young lives.

Funeral services were held at the Martins Mennonite Church on Oct. 29 in charge of J. Robert Detweiler, Don Augsburger, and E. M. Mortonsen. Interment was made in the adjoining church cemetery.
