Birth date: 1885 Jan 25
Christian Hofstetter, son of Christian and Anna (Beugli) Hostetter, was born on Jan. 25, 1885 near Dalton, Ohio.
Until he was 15 he lived on a farm near Dalton. He attended the Sonnenberg Mennonite Church. In 1900 the family moved to Oregon and settled near Silverton.
As a young man he accepted Christ as his Saviour and joined the Mennonite Church.
In December 1926 he was married to Mary Roth. They lived and farmed near Silverton throughout their married life.
He was a man with strong convictions of right and wrong and was much interested in community and world affairs. For a time he wrote articles for the local paper and served on the school board.
He died Aug. 9, 1973 at his home at Silverton at the age of 88. Surviving are his wife, of Silverton; four sons, Donald and Harold of Silverton, Ralph of Bogota, Columbia, and Merlin of Omaha, neb.; and one daughter, Catherine of Albany, Ore. A brother, Ben, and a sister, Fanny, preceded him in death. We mourn his passing but rejoice to know that he is at rest. — The Family.
