Bluffton Youth Dies Of Suffocation When Pinned Under Auto

Bluffton, Ohio. — Funeral services for Jeffery Lee Hoffer, 18, of Bluffton, who was killed in a one-car accident, were held at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church here on Aug. 26, Rev. Dan U. Dalke, the pastor, officiated.

The fatal mishap occurred when the automobile n which the youth was a passenger struck a fence and overturned, pinning him underneath. An investigating officer stated that the cause of death was suffocation. The young man was a member of the Ebenezer Church.

Admitted to the Bluffton Community Hospital with multiple cuts and bruises was Rick Brown, 18, driver of the car. Treated at the hospital and released were a brother of the victim, William Hoffer, 19, and Keith Jeffers, 16, both of Bluffton.

Surviving besides the injured brother are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hoffer of Bluffton, and three other brothers, Mark, David and Roger, all of the home.
