RETIRED FARMER OF DONNELLSON, IOWA DIED AT AGE 94

Donnellson, Iowa. — August Hirschler, retired farmer nearly 95 years of age, died Feb. 27 in the Rest Haven Home at Mt. Pleasant where he had been a patient the past three years.

The Zion Mennonite church was filled to capacity for the last rites, held Saturday afternoon, March 1, as relatives, friends and neighbors paid their last respects. Rev. Vernon Neufeld officiated.

A life long resident of the Donnellson community, Mr. Hirschler was married to Barbara Anton of Primrose, Iowa on Christmas day, 1886. She preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 1948. A daughter, Mrs. Laura Leisy, died April 18, 1942.

He is survived by a son Erwin G., two grandsons, and two great grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Jacob of Berkeley, Calif., Oswald of Upland, Calif., Otto and Mrs. Hulda Koller of Donnellson, Mrs. Christina Krehbiel of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Katie E. Mattern, Burlington.

Mr. Hirschler was the oldest member of the Zion church, held several important offices in the church, and served as church custodian for a number of years.
