MRS. JOAN HINZ

Elizabeth Hinz, daughter of Jacob J. and Maria Fischer, was born in Martensfeld, southern Russia, on February 13, 1882. In 1891 she moved with her parents to Newton, Kansas, where she spent her childhood years. In 1899 the family moved to Canada and settled on a farm in the Laird, Sask. area.

She was united in marriage to Johan Hinz on December 18, 1900 in the home of her parents. To this union were born two daughters and seven sons. Her husband predeceased her on January 3, 1947. Of the life and character of their mother, her abiding concern for her family, her tireless efforts in serving the Lord, her fervent and faithful prayers, the family has many happy remembrances. After her retirement from the farm, she spent the first years in her small home in Laird. She had spent her recent years in the Rosthern Nursing Home. She went home to be with the Lord on November 8.

She is survived by two daughters, Pauline (Mrs. Abe) Reimer, Clearbreok, B.C., and Mary (Mrs. Sam) Baerg, Surrey, B.C.; six sons, John of Laird and Saskatoon, William of Saskatoon, David of Waldheim, Sask., Walter of Surrey, B.C.; Vander and Alvin of Laird. One son, Edwin, passed away earlier. Besides her immediate family, she is survived by 36 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Two sisters, (Mrs.) Sarah Penner of Hepburn and (Mrs.) Hertha Peters of Dalmeny, and three brothers, David Fischer of Cold Lake, Alta., Emil Fischer of Black Diamond, Alta., and Albert Fischer of Penticton, B.C. also survive.
