● Ralph J. Hiebert, 50, of Newton was killed Nov. 19 when the truck he was driving overturned and exploded on a Butler County road near Towanda. He was a driver for Crossroads Co-op of North Newton, and was hauling a load of diesel fuel at the time of the accident. Services were held Nov. 22 at the First Mennonite Church of Newton with Floyd Bartel officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Born Dec. 12, 1931 near Lehigh, he was the son of Rudolph and Katherine Hiebert. He married Viola A. Neufeld at Newton on Aug. 3, 1951. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Katherine Hiebert of Hillsboro; one brother, Vernon of Castle Rock, Colo.; and three sisters, Erma (Mrs. Wesley) Pankratz of Tampa, Pearl (Mrs. Jerry) Hartman and Adeline (Mrs. Charles) Mills, both of Seattle, Wash.
