PETER J. HIEBERT

Peter J. Hiebert was born at Hillsboro, Kans., son of Johann J. and Maria (nee Loewen) Hiebert, August 2, 1878.

At the age of 15 he migrated with the family to Oklahoma where he lived until 1920, when he and his own family traveled for several years and finally settled at Upland, Calif. There he was active in the First Mennonite church and served as trustee and treasurer at the time of the building of the present church. During his residence he served as Sunday school teacher for a young boys’ class.

In 1927 he moved East and at the time of his passing lived at Federalsburg, Maryland.

On Dec. 14, 1902, he was united in marriage to Martha Ei [sic E.] at Enid, Okla. Three daughters were born to this union.

On Nov. 3. 1949, he passed away of a heart attack. He rests at Hillcrest cemetery, Federalsburg, Md.

Surviving are his widow and three daughters, Lela, wife of R. Earl Smith, Ontario, Calif.; Hilda, wife of Marion Whipple, Zionsville, Penna., and Alta, wife of Albert Boevers, Preston, Md.; and four grandchildren.
