Henry M. Hiebert

Born, Oct. 13, 1869, in the village of Landskron, South Russia. Came to America with his parents in 1879. Baptized in June, 1883 and received into the Mennonite brethren Church at Goessel. Married Katharina Duerksen, Feb. 26, 1888. Lived with her in Holy matrimony 15 years, 7 months and 16 days. Born to this union, 5 sons and 3 daughters. Married his second wife, Elizabeth Hiebert, Feb. 17, 1904. They lived together 24 years, 8 months and 11 days. Born to this union, 2 sons and 3 daughters. He was seriously ill about a year ago but recovered. Took sick again Oct. 20, suffering from hemorhages {sic} of the lungs developed into pneumonia. Passed away Sunday, Oct. 28. Age at death 66 years and 15 days.

Mr. Hiebert was a resident of Hillsboro for a number of years. The fact that he sent seven of his children to Tabor College and also donated a thousand dollars, besides smaller sums, shows that he was a loyal friend and supporter of that school.

The funeral services were held in the M. B. Church Thursday afternoon, November 1. Among others who came for the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Wiens of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vogt of Kansas City; Mrs. Gustav Faul from Velva, North Dakota; and Herman Hiebert, '27, who is teaching in Oklahoma. Mrs. Wiens, Mrs. Vogt and Mrs. Faul daughters of Mr. Hiebert, are all former Tabor students.
