Abram G. Hiebert

Mt. Lake, Minn., Aug. 29. — Abram G. Hiebert, a familiar figure on Mountain Lake's streets for many years was laid to rest Sunday afternoon, after appropriate services had been conducted in the Bethel church. His death came suddenly Thursday evening and was caused by the formation of a blood clot, which stopped the heart. He had been a patient of the Bethel Hospital since August 1928 when he slipped and fell and fractured his leg.

Rev. P. J. Friesen was in charge of the services at the D. J. Schroeder home, and also at those in the church. Rev. D. D. Eitzen spoke first, then Rev. Friesen spoke briefly, and Rev H. H. Regier made the closing remarks and prayer. The obituary was written and read by H. J. Fast. A mixed choir sang several beautiful songs, and especially one about a mother's love, as the deceased had a profound reverence for his mother while she was living, and often spoke of her since then.

The deceased was born on April 13, 1891, and was in good health until he was taken very ill at the age of one. This illness almost robbed his parents of his life, and when he did recover, his mind had been affected so that it did not become as strong as his body.

When he was thirty-two years old, his mother died, and a great sorrow had come into his life, for he loved her dearly. He often spoke of her since that time. In 1920 he was confirmed, and joined the Bethel church, and he remained a member until his death. since the death of his mother he has been employed on various farms in this vicinity, and he was working on the Sam Franz farm when he slipped and broke his leg on August 13th. Then he was taken to the hospital where his death came so suddenly.

Out of town relatives at the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. John P. Hiebert and Dr. G. J. Hiebert of Minneapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. J. John Friesen of Freeman, South Dakota. — Mt. Lake Observer.
