Ohio Youth Fatally Hurt On Indiana Trip

CAR SKIDS ON WET PAVEMENT AND CRASHES BROADSIDE INTO TREE

Goshen, Ind. — The trip of an Apple Creek, Ohio youth to the home of friends near Middlebury, Ind. ended tragically when his car skidded on wet pavement and crashed broadside into a tree.

Levi Hershberger, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan N. Hershberger of Maysville, Ohio, died at Memorial hospital in South Bend on Sunday morning, Oct. 25, where he had been taken by ambulance.

The accident took place Saturday evening as he approached the Menno Miller home north of Middlebury, where he planned to visit. It was thought he may have applied the brakes too suddenly as he approached the driveway. He was traveling alone.

The body was returned to Ohio, and funeral services were conducted Oct. 28 at the Maysville Conservative Mennonite church. He was a member of the Beachy Mennonite church at Bunker Hill.

Surviving in addition to the parents are three brothers and five sisters.
