PROMINENT FARMER FATALLY INJURED WHEN STRUCK BY CAR

Fentress, Va. — Funeral services were held at the Mennonite church, Kempsville, on Nov. 4 for Joseph I. Hershberger, Sr., widely known Amish Mennonite farmer of the Lynnhaven community who was fatally injured in an accident at Lancaster, Pa. on Nov. 1.

En route home from the funeral of a cousin in Indiana, he stepped from the bus at Lancaster and was struck by a car as he started cross the street. His wife, Mary, son Joseph Jr. and wife had gone to Lancaster to meet him and were informed of the tragedy when they arrived there.

A native of LaGrange, Ind., Mr. Hershberger had lived in the Lynnhaven community for 25 years. He leaves his wife, two daughters, five sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
