JACOB J. HEINRICHS

Jacob J. Heinrichs was born Oct. 3, 1892, near Canton, Kan. to Peter and Maria Dalke Heinrichs. He departed this life Jan. 15, 1971 at Pleasant View Manor, Reedley, Calif., at the age of 73 years, three months and 12 days after an extended illness.

He received his elementary education at Emma Valley School near Canton.

At the age of 18 he trusted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the Springfield Krimmer Mennonite Brethren Church near Lehigh, Kan. where he became a member.

He was married to Sara Thiessen at Inman, Kan. on Aug. 29, 1920. Ten children came to bless their home, which they established near Canton, Kan. on a grain and cattle farm.

He actively participated in church activities, helping where he was needed, and enjoyed singing in various music groups. He took responsibility in the community, serving on several school boards.

In 1940 the family moved to Dinuba, Calif. His concern for the spiritual welfare of his family was a determining factor in establishing the home on a farm near the Zion Mennonite Church. Here he remained a faithful member until his homegoing. This concern was demonstrated by his faithful attendance to the services in the house of God, and his encouragement to the family to attend with him. This effort was rewarded with the blessing of seeing each of his children commit their lives to Christ.

Life was not easy but father was determined to provide well for his family in spite of physical handicaps through numerous accidents and illnesses.

Gods timetable permitted father and mother to reach the milestone of their 50th wedding anniversary only shortly before his final illness. Realizing that his health was failing, he had a longing to go home to be with his Lord, and a desire to provide a home for mother in town, which they were able to enjoy together for only six short weeks.

“Blessed are the pure in heart; For they shall see God” (Matt. 5:8). This promise which father claimed for his salvation has now become a reality.

Awaiting him in heaver were his infant daughter Adina and one grandson.

Left to await the Lord’s coming and glad reunion are his wife Sara; their nine children, Linda and Jacob Ewert of Balko, Okla., Marvin and Alma Heinrichs of Dinuba, La Vina and Jonas Hofer of Dinuba, Adelia and Al Tschiegg of Salem, Ore., Ruby and Don Arduser of Colebridge, Neb., Lester and Marie Heinrichs of Visalia, Lillian and Chryston Harms of Warroad, Minn., James and Joan Heinrichs of Reedley, Johnny and Maxine Heinrichs of Dinuba; 37 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters. — The Family.
