DOROTHY ANNE HEIDEBRECHT

Dorothy Anne Heidebrecht of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away May 3. She was born May 27, 1945 to Peter and Nettie Ewert of Abbotsford. She was baptized Sept. 14, 1958 at McCallum Rd . (now Central Heights) MB Church in Abbotsford. She graduated from Mennonite Educational Institute and attended Briercrest Bible Institute. She then worked as a bank teller. She married George Heidebrecht June 25 1966. At South Abbotsford MB Church, she worked with the girls' clubs and the music committee, sang in the choir and played piano and organ. In the community, she actively promoted an educational program for children with special needs. She also worked for the Abbotsford School District as a secretary, and served on the Board of Directors for the B.C. Association of Community Living. In 1984, cancer was discovered, but she recovered through surgery, medical treatment, strong faith and the prayerful support of friends and family. In November, 1990 the cancer returned, and the same faith and support from family, church and friends sustained her. In time, her eyes of faith looked to the Saviour who had guided her through her life, and her wish was to go home. Predeceased by her father, she is mourned by her husband; mother; children Colleen, Wendy and Gordon; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. The funeral was May 8 in South Abbotsford MB Church, with Cliff Janzen officiating.
