Rosthern, Sask. Editor and Publisher Dies

JOHN HEESE WAS EDITOR OF WEEKLY PAPER AND PRINTER OF “DER BOTE”

Rosthern, Sask. — Jon Heese, editor of ”The Saskatchewan Valley News” and printer of “Der Bote,” official German language paper of the General Conference Mennonite, Church, died here recently at the age of 55. Death was due to a stroke which paralyzed his respiratory system.

Funeral services were conducted at the Rosthern United Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.

In addition to his publishing interests, Mr. Heese served on the board of the Rosthern Junior College, was president of the Saskatchewan Valley Credit Union, and was active in other community affairs.

Survivors include a son, John Heese, Jr., former Pax man in the Belgian Congo who has been associated with his father in the publishing business here.
