MRS. DONALD HAURY

Mrs. Agnes Marie (Buller) Haury, daughter of Benjamin J. and Susie (Unruh) Buller, was born on Dec. 5, 1922 at Halstead, Kan., where she lived all her life except for a brief period of time when the family lived at Galva. She received her elementary education in Halstead and one year of high school at Galva.

At the age of 13 she was stricken with rheumatic fever. This dreaded disease left behind its harmful effects in the form of a weakened and defective heart. This condition remained with her the rest of her life, interrupting her schooling, limiting her activities and often confining her to the hospital. In spite of her physical ailment and handicap she remained always cheerful, and bore her suffering patiently with an optimistic outlook on all things. Her confinement to the hospital was almost always borne with a smile. As her condition gradually grew worse she submitted to heart surgery in a hospital at Denver on July 26, 1960. From this surgery she never recovered passing away on Thursday morning, July 28.

In spite of her condition she was able to enjoy a fairly normal, though handicapped life. On Dec. 10, 1943 she was united in marriage to Donald Walter Haury by Rev. David C. Wedel. The couple made their home on a farm near Halstead. To this union were born two children, a son and a daughter.

On Sept. 26, 1945 she was baptized by Rev. David C. Wedel and received into the membership of the First Mennonite church of Halstead. Of this church she remained a member until the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her father, who passed away on Jun 27, 1958.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband Donald; one son, Donald Walter Jr.; one daughter, Kristin Marie; her mother, Mrs. Susie Buller of Halstead; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Unruh of Halstead, and Gladys, Mrs. Donald Spencer of Newton; three brothers, Jake buller, Fred Buller, and Eugene Buller, all of Halstead; two nieces, six nephews, one grandniece, and one grandnephew.

Funeral Services [sic] were held Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church in Halstead with Rev. Roland R. Goering officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the Halstead cemetery.
