David Z. Hauck

David Z. Hauck, of Philadelphia, Pa., son of Charles and Susanna Zimmerman Hauck, was born at Frederick, Pa., December 14th, 1853. On October 2nd, 1875 he and Mary Kremer were united in marriage. The happy union that was established endured for more than fifty years. During the week of October 2nd, 1925 friends and relatives were permitted to share in the Golden Wedding celebration. On Easter 1901 Mr. Hauck and his family joined the First Mennonite Church. For a number of years Mr. Hauck was suffering from various ailments. Nothing was however permitted to keep him and his family from the Church, until late in 1926 it was found necessary and desirable for him and his wife to go and live with their daughters. One could not help fut notice the empty place in worship. Rest and the trip were not sufficient to overcome the disease, and on April 4th, the end came. An operation had been performed at the Mennonite Hospital, Beatrice, Nebraska, in the hope of relief, but to no avail. His faithfulness and readiness ought to be an example for all who knew him. He was laid to rest Sunday, April 10th, 1927. Aged 73 years, 3 months, 21 days. Rev. N. B. Grubb and Rev. A. J. Neuenschwander officiating. Interment, Northwood.
