MRS. MARY HARTZLER

Mary Ethel (King) Hartzler, oldest daughter of Jonas Y. and Saloma (Hershberger) King, was born near Allensville, Pa. on Sept. 15, 1888, and departed this life on Jan. 5, 1960 at her home, age 71 years, three months and 20 days. Her passing was due to complications resulting from a series of strokes.

In 1908 she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the Mattawana Mennonite church, transferring her membership to the Allensville Mennonite church in the spring of 1917.

On Feb. 28, 1917 she was united in marriage to Urie D. Harzler of Allensville. To this union six children were born: Alta S. (Mrs. Glen I.Harzler) of R.D. 2, Huntingdon, Pa., and Martin S. Hartzler of R. D. 1, Belleville Pa., two boys and two girls who passed away in infancy. There are two foster daughters, Rhoda M. (Mrs. Crist D. Peachey) of Reedsville, Pa., and Lorene, (Mrs. Jess Kaufman) of Belleville, Pa.

She is survived by the immediate family; three brothers, David D. King and Charles E. King of Mattawana, Pa., Archie F. King of Belleville; one sister, Miss Nannie King of Mattawana, Pa.; six grandchildren and six foster grandchildren.

After suffering a stroke in October of 1953 she was semi-invalid until the last three months of her life, when she was invalid.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 8, 1960 at the Allensville Mennonite church in charge of Raymond R. Peachey and Waldo E. Miller. Interment was made in the Allensville Mennonite cemetery.
