LYDIA A. HARTZLER

Lydia Alice, daughter of Ezra and Nancy (Zook) Yoder, was born October 13, 1877, near West Liberty, Ohio, and passed away in her home January 18, 1948, aged 70 years three months, and five days. She had about seven years of failing health, and suffered much during the last eight or nine months.

In her youth she moved with her parents to Garden City, Mo., later accepting the Lord as her Saviour and becoming a member of the Sycamore Grove congregation, where she remained faithful until death. January 9, 1948, marked the 50th wedding anniversary for her and her husband, Charles O. Hartzler. At that time their three sons, Ed of Alpha, Minn., Sherman and Rolla from Garden City, Mo., and two daughters, Beulah of Alpha and Dorothy of the parental home, who had lovingly and tenderly cared for her mother through the lingering illness, were with their parents.

Surviving, besides her husband and the five children, are a brother, E. Z. Yoder, Hubbard, Oregon; two half-sisters, Ola and Anna, and a half-brother, Dan, all of West Liberty, Ohio, and nine grandchildren. An infant son and two half-sisters and one half-brother preceded her in death.

Much of her joy and happiness in life came from serving her family, and from having her children and grandchildren in her home. She very much appreciated the many prayers and remembrances in her behalf by her friends and relatives, and especially was she always grateful for the song and prayer services in her home by the young people and the pastor of her church.

Funeral services were conducted at the home and at the Sycamore Grove church in charge of W. R. Hershberger, assisted by S. S. Hershberger. Interment was made in the Clearfork cemetery.
