MRS. EDITH M. HARSHBARGER

Edith May, daughter of John R. and Frances Kauffman Yoder, was born May 25, 1876, in Champaign county near West Liberty, Ohio. She passed on to her eternal reward on May 19, 1952, 9:25 p.m. at Bellefontaine, Ohio, aged 75 years, 11 months and 24 days.

She had endured to her death a four month's illness following a cerebral hemorrhage.

She was united in marriage to Samuel H. Harshbarger, who preceded her in death in 1935. This union was blessed with seven children, Paul, Floyd and Edna Grace having died in infancy. Emmett L. preceded her in death in 1942.

She leaves to mourn her departure three children, Luke of Springfield, Ohio, May E. of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Mildred of Columbus, Ohio; four granddaughters, Kathleen, Patty, Sylvia and Stephanie Harshbarger, Springfield, Ohio, three gradsons[sic], John and Ivan Harshbarger, North Newton, Kansas and J. Luke Harshbarger, Springfield, Ohio: one sister, Mrs. Emma King, Garden City, Mo.; two brothers, Alfred F. and Emmett W. Yoder, both of West Liberty, Ohio, and many other relatives and friends.

During her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and obediently served Him throughout her days. She was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite church.

She loved the beauty of nature, she appreciated her temporal blessings, she prayed for a Christian home, and she exemplified Christian living by her daily worship with her Lord.

Those who knew her best, knew her as one, who, in parting, would say,

“Unto my friends I give my thoughts.
Unto my God my soul.
Unto my foe I leave my love —
These are of life the whole."

Funeral services were held Thursday May 22, 1952, from the Oak Grove Mennonite Church at 2:30 pm., Rev. Nelson Kanagy officiating assisted by Rev. Stanley Shenk. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
