JUSTINA HARMS

Justina Harms was born Feb. 9, 1892 near Lehigh, Kan. to Frank and Susanna Wall Hiebert. At the age of four she moved with her family by covered wagon to homestead on a farm southwest of Corn, Okla. In that community she grew to womanhood, attending the Sparta school through the fourth grade.

Her life was often filled with heavy burdens and hard work, but in her home an community she learned to love the Lord. She was baptized on Dec. 2, 1906 by Abraham Richert, and remained a faithful member of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church all her life.

She was married to Henry W. Harms on Nov. 16, 1919. They established their new home northwest of Corn, living there for over 30 years, except for one year in Hillsboro, Kan. In 1953 they moved into Corn. They enjoyed their home in Corn until her husband was suddenly taken away through an automobile accident in 1958. She continued living alone in her home until 1974, when she moved to the Corn Home for the Aged.

She was a loving, caring person, always thinking first of others. She was a faithful prayer warrior, being deeply concerned that all her family members would find salvation through Christ.

Her death came quietly on July 11, 19081 at the age of 89. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Ogen J. and Pauline Harms of corn, Barney E. and Lavelle Harms of Oklahoma City, Leo H. and Verna Harms of Weatherford and Gladys and Richard Lee of Torrance, Calif.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter in infancy, by all of her 11 brothers and sisters, and by one grandson.
