JACOB D. HARMS

Jacob D. Harms, son of Peter and Anna Ewert Harms, was born January 16, 1880 near Whitewater, Kansas, and passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 11, 1959, having attained the age of 79 years, nine months, and 26 days.

On June 23, 1901 he was baptized upon his confession of faith and united with the grace Hill Mennonite church of which he remained a member until his passing.

He was united in marriage to Anna Nickel on Sept. 1, 1927 at Clinton, Okla. Two children were born to this union, Earl, of the home, and Loretta (Mrs. Robert Coleman) of Newton.

Brother Harms spent his entire lifetime in the Whitewater community. He engaged in farming and occasionally did some carpenter work. He took a great interest in helping build the new church several years ago.

He had been in poor health the last few years, and in the past year his health began to fail rapidly. Recently he had expressed several times his desire to be released from this earthly body to do to be with the Lord. This request the Lord granted hm in a quiet and almost unexpected manner Wednesday morning, Nov. 11.

He was the youngest in a family of seven children, all having preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Anna; one son, Earl; one daughter Loretta and husband, Robert Coleman; four grandchildren, Katherine, Kenneth, Doris, and Donald Coleman; a number of relatives and many friends.
