ELLEN G. HARDER

Ellen G. Harder was born to George F. and Marie Flaming Harder on Nov. 5, 1912 at Corn, Okla. At the age of 13 he was baptized on the confession of his faith in Jesus Christ by Rev. J. J. Wiebe, and received into the membership of the Corn Mennonite Brethren church.

On August 24, 1952 he joined hands with Bernice Friesen in holy matrimony. Two sons, Larry and Gary, were born in this wedlock. The family resided in Newton during their entire married life.

During these days of sorrow the bereaved family has experienced the fruits of his friendly and cheerful disposition. He was a wonderful husband and a loving father to his family. His Christian life and conviction were exemplified in all that he did. His interest in the church and spiritual things were always evident in his life.

On Nov. 9, 1952, several months after his marriage, he transferred his membership to the First Mennonite church of Newton, Kansas. He remained faithful and loyal to the Church and to the Lord until his death.

During World War II he spent 42 months in alternative service, serving in the Civilian Public Service camp at Fort Collins, Colo.

At the time of death he was engaged in construction work. It so happened that the car in which he was riding to work was involved in a car-truck collision which brought about his untimely death. He was preceded in death by one sister, Esther.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and two sons of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George F. Harder; one brother, Arthur of Fairview, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Schroeder of Ringwood, Okla. and Mrs. Martha Penner of Fresno, Calif; also 13 nieces and nephews plus a host of relatives and friends.
