VERNA RUTH HANDRICH

Verna Ruth Handrich, oldest daughter of Jacob C. and Elizabeth (Bitzel) Beachy, was born Jan. 24, 1891, near Sugarcreek, Ohio; passed away March 5, 1957, in her home near Fairview, Mich. at the age of 66 years, one month and 11 days.

She yielded her life to the Lord in her youth. With her parents she moved near Fairview, Mich., where she was united in marriage to Elmer J. Handrich. She with her husband joined fellowship with the Fairview Mennonite church where she was a faithful member till her death.

She became the mother of seven children, of whom three preceded her in death. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Forest of Fairview, Fern, Mrs. Gusler of Mio, Mich., Willard of Grand Marias and Bruce of Germfask, Mich. Also surviving are four sisters, Artie, Mrs. Willis Miller of Sarasota, Florida, Mary Mrs. Clarence Miller of Westover, Maryland, Carrie, Mrs. Chancey Miller, of Fairview, and Mabel, Mrs. Curtis Yoder, of Fairview; and 21 grandchildren.

Early in life she learned the secret of losing her life to find it fuller and more vibrant than ever before. Her greatest joy was to be of service to others. This spirit was ever evident in her home life and we who remain will ever cherish this mark of a deep and abiding faith in Christ Jesus.

Funeral services were held at the Fairview Mennonite Church with Bishop Harvey Handrich officiating. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery on March 8.
