MRS. SUSAN HAMM

Mrs. Henry D. Hamm (nee Susana [sic Susanna] Fast) was born June 8, 1900, in Mt. Lake, Minn., to Gerhard and Marie Fast. It was there that she grew up and received her education. It was also there that she received Christ as her personal Saviour, was baptized and received into the fellowship of the E.M.B. church.

On May 22, 1919, she was united in marriage to Henry D. Hamm, also of Mt.Lake. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Chicago where they spent about four years. From Chicago the family moved to Dallas, Oregon, where they lived until 1908. A move was then made to Salem, Oregon, which was their home until the death of Mr. Hamm in April 1954. Mrs. Hamm then came to live in Dallas until the time of her death on Jan. 17, 1959. She reached the age of 59 years, seven months,10 days.

Mrs. Hamm is survived by three children, David Elmer, who is a missionary in Chile, South America and who with his family had recently returned on furlough; Harold Gerhard, public school teacher in the Los Angeles area; Verda Susan, Mrs. Harold Cox, from Corpus Cristi [sic Christi], Texas; two daughters-in-;aw; one son-in-law; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. H. M. Dick, and many others who lovingly referred to her as Aunt Susie.

A life is not counted by its length, but by its blessing and usefulness to others. Mrs. Hamm was a wonderful Christian wife and mother, leaving a godly impact upon her children. She was active in church work, teaching Sunday school for many years, working in the ladies organizations helping with arrangement of flowers in the church, and being an inspiration to those round about her. Such a life is not lived in vain.

Her desire since the death of her husband was to be where he was, with the Lord. She did not seem to find genuine satisfaction in this life anymore, but we know that what she longed for has now been realized. "I shall be satisfied when I wake with Thy likeness." — The Family.
