PETER CORNELIUS HAMM

Peter Cornelius Hamm was born on March 26, 1895 in the village of New York, South Russia. He was the son of Cornelius and Agatha Hamm. On August 27, 1917, he was married to Amalia Wekkesser, and three of their six sons were born in Russia. In 1924 the family migrated to Ganada and settled at Marquette, Manitoba. Three years later they moved to Leamington, Ontario, where they farmed until 1960. While still in his younger years, he had become a member of the Mennonite Church, and after coming to Leamington, he joined the Leamington United Mennonite Church.

During 1960 the Hamms moved into the town of Leamington, and he was able to work until this past year. About one and-a-half years ago he and his wife were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary together with all their children and grandchildren. On April 8, he passed away at the Leamington hospital. Left to mourn his passing are his wife; six sons, Cornelius and Rudy of Leamington, Peter of Kitchener, Jake of Bellingham, Washington, John of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Edward of Vineland; 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
