HENRY S. HAGEN

Our loving husband and father, Henry S. Hagen, son of George and Lena Schale Hagen, was born on August 6, 1891, in Marion county, Kansas. Here he also received his early education and worked with his parents on a farm.

At the approximate age of 20, our father recognized his lost condition without the Lord Jesus Christ. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and gave public confession to the same. Upon his confession of faith, he was baptized and became a member of the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren church.

On Jan. 23, 1916, he was united to Augusta Reiswig in holy matrimony, and this union was blessed with 12 children. The first of these children, Willard, died in infancy.

They spent the first years on a farm in Marion county, Kansas. In 1837 [sic] they moved to Reedley, Calif. Here our father worked as a laborer.

Our father's life has been filled with many dark hours and many trials and troubles. About six years ago he became very ill. This illness was followed by a nervous breakdown. He spent some time at the Kingsview hospital, and for the last several years was under the care of the doctors at the Modesto state hospital. Here he passed away Wednesday morning, July 13, 1955, at the age of 63 years, 11 months, and seven days.

As a family we rest in the all-sufficiency of our Master's wonderful grace. Though we do not understand fully the dealings of God in our father's life, we believe that he stood in grace, and thus we have the hope of seeing him again.

Those who remain to mourn at his parting are his wife, Mrs. Augusta Hagen of Reedley, 11 children, Clarence of Fresno, Gladys, Mrs. Paul Kronberg of Campbell, Calif., Linda, Mrs. Ralph Southard of San Bernardino, Calif., Ray of San Jose, Calif., Irene, Mrs. Winton Stucky of Hesston, Kansas, Wilma, Mrs. Alvin Turmon of Selma, Calif., George of Fresno, Frieda, Mrs. Bob Moore of Selma, Sylvia, Mrs. Monroe of San Jose, Robert of Reedley, and Elvie Dean of Reedly; also his aged mother, mrs. George hage of the home for the aged at Hillsboro, Kansas; five brothers, one sister and 23 grandchildren. Besides his first-born son, one grandchild, his father, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death. — The Bereaved Family.
