Two Dead in Elkhart County, Ind. Crash

Goshen, Ind. — A near head-on collision on US-6 northeast of Syracuse the evening of Dec. 12 claimed the lives of a Syracuse couple, who became Elkhart County's 39th and 40th traffic fatalities of 1964.

Killed were Wm. E. Gushwa and his wife Lena, both 57. Double funeral services were held at the Syracuse Church of the Brethren of which they were members.

Ezra T. Schmucker, 21, driver of the other car involved, was critically injured but is reported improving at the Goshen hospital. He was wearing a seat belt, which may have saved his life. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jency Schmucker of Route 2, Nappanee.
