SALLYE RHODES HURST GROSS

Sallye Rhodes Hurst Gross, daughter of Raleigh and Lelia Keller Rhodes, was born at Dayton, Va., on July 28, 1908. She died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism at the home of her daughter, Grace Byler of Lancaster, Pa., on July 30, 1986, at the age of 78.

In 1932 she was married to Luke A. Hurst, who died in December 1955, in October 1965, she was married to Wesley Gross, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Luke R. Hurst and wife Pearl, Eunice (Mrs. Emmett R.) Lehman, Lois (Mrs. Marvin L.) Weaver, Grace S. Stoltzfus; 34 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, John, David, Joseph and Daniel Gross and Martha Gross Baxter; 21 step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the New Life Fellowship Mennonite Church in Ephrata, Pa.

Funeral services were held at the Weaverland Mennonite Church on Aug. 3, with Wilbur Lantz, Marvin L. Weaver and John Gross in charge. Interment was in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery.
