SMOKETOWN, PENNA.

Mrs. Lester W. Groff, 49, of Manheim was instantly killed in car and train accident near East Petersburg on Feb. 3. Witnesses said Mrs. Groff’s car appeared to skid or bounce as it neared the crossing, and she could not cross the tracks. It it [sic] not known whether she got out of the car before the train hit, swinging the car around, or whether she was thrown from the car. She was dragged about 50 feet.

Mrs Groff, the former Mildred Wenger, daughter of Rufus and the late Elsie Givler Wenger, survived by her husband, three daughters and a son, Lynn, who serving in VS in Columbia, South America. Lynn came by plane for the funeral, which was held at the Neffsville Mennonite Church. Burial was made at the Hernley’s Church cemetery north of Mannheim. — M. E. R.
