GARAGE FOREMAN FATALLY BURNED IN EXPLOSION

Berne, Ind. — A large congregation attended funeral services at the First Mennonite church here Monday forenoon, Sept. 25, for Menas Graber, 44, who suffered fatal burns in an explosion at the Graber Produce company on Friday. Rev. Olin A. Krehbiel officiated at the last rites.

Mr. Graber was working alone in the company’s garage section, of which he was superintendent, and apparently was welding a loose spigot on a large drum when it exploded, igniting a nearby can of antifreeze. His clothing was sprayed with the flaming liquid. His brother, Victor Graber, owner and manage [sic] of the plant, helped put out the flames with a blanket, but the extensive burns caused death that evening at a Ft. Wayne hospital.

He leaves his wife, Lena, and two sons, Walter and Marvin. The youngest son, 13 years of age, has been seriously ill for some weeks.
